Betsy White

RDH, BSDH, FSCDH

completed her Dental Hygiene Degree at Guilford Technical Community College, her B.S. studies at the Univ. of NC School of Dentistry and maintains her Fellowship in Dental Hygiene from Special Care Dentistry. She has spent her entire career in Special Care Dentistry and is currently a hygienist and Chief Operating Officer for Access Dental Care. She has served on boards and task forces from local to national levels to support dental providers serving patients with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as those with mental health disorders

Joy V. Poskozim

DDS, FSCD, CDP

a general dentist and national speaker, teaches dental and medical audiences what dental emergencies are, dental terms, and how to treat those with dementia. Dr. Joy's true passion is being an advocate for the geriatric population. She is the dental director for several nursing care facilities as well as a house-call dentist. She has been in private practice for over 20 years, practicing integrative health general dentistry at her office on the northwest side of Chicago, and has been performing dental procedures on the home-bound for 15 years. Dr. Joy completed the American Dental Association's (ADA) Dentistry in Long-Term Care: Creating Pathways to Success from the University of the Pacific Dental School in 2017. She earned her Fellowship with the Special Care Dental Association Geriatric Council in 2018. She then earned her certification as a Dementia Practitioner (CDP) in 2020.

Robert E. Rada 

DDS, MBA

is a Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry. He also maintains a private practice in LaGrange Illinois focusing on patients with special needs. Individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities of all ages are cared for in his practice. Dr. Rada has facilitated many live patient courses to assist dentists and dental students in their learning to care for dental patients with special needs. He teaches in the Group Practice Clinics and currently has dental students rotate through his private practice and directs the Special Care Dentistry Track at UIC.

Denise Murmann

DDS

graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago Dental School in 1992. She practices general dentistry at and is the owner of Murmann Dental Health, PC in Naperville, IL. In 1999, she became a member of Disaster Mortuary Operational Response Team (DMORT) Region V, as a forensic odontologist. Dr. Murmann serves as a consultant for several local coroner offices: DuPage, Kendall and Will. She is a member of the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Disaster Response Team. She is also a Volunteer Forensic Odontologist (VFO) with the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs). In 2004, she was the principle researcher in a study that was presented at the American Academy of Forensic Sciences annual scientific session in 2005 and then published in the Journal of Forensic Sciences (JFS) in 2006 with the title “A Comparison of Animal Jaws and Bite Mark Patterns.” Dr. Murmann is a board-certified diplomate of the American Board of Forensic Odontology (ABFO), a member and past president of the American Society of Forensic Odontology (ASFO), a fellow in the Odontology Section of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences (AAFS), and a member of the American Dental Association (ADA).

Jamie Collins

RDH-EA, BS

is a hygienist licensed in Idaho and Washington states and dedicated to advancing the dental profession. With over twenty years in the dental field, it has led her to being involved in many aspects of patient care. With a passion for patient care, especially those with higher risk factors, Jamie enjoys sharing the tips and tricks of dental profession. Through speaking and writing for various publications, with over 80 articales published she educated dental professionals worldwide. She has been awarded the ADHA Trailblazer Award in 2021, 2022 and the first recipient of the ADHA Standout Seven Corporate Hygienist award in 2022. Jamie has also cntributed to multiple textbooks, curriculum development, and contributes as a key opinion leader for various companies. Her experience has led to her being names the Professional Education Manager at MouthWatch.

Theresa (Tracy) Anselmo

BSDH, RDH

Prior to joining the Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation, Tracy had a variety of roles involving the planning,  implementing and evaluating strategic policy and health initiatives in her work as Executive Director of the Colorado Association of Local Public Health Officials, the Oral Health Program Manager for the County of San Luis Obispo CA, and the Dental Director for the State of Colorado. Tracy received her Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene from the University of Colorado and her Master of Public Health from the Rollins School of Public Health at Emory University in Atlanta, GA. In her free time, Tracy shares her love of ice skating by teaching the sport to skaters of all ages. She is a third-generation Coloradan.

Brian Chicoine

MD

is the medical director of the Advocate Medical Group Adult Down Syndrome Center in Park Ridge, Illinois. He is on the faculty of the Family Medicine residency at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital. He received his medical degree from Loyola University of Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and completed his Family Medicine residency at Lutheran General Hospital. In 1992, Dr. Chicoine co-founded the Adult Down Symdrome Center, which has served and documents the health and psychosocial needs of over 6000 adolescents and adulta with Down syndrome since it's inception. Dr. Chicoine has provided medical care for adults with intellectual disabilities for over 35 years and has presented and written extensively on caring for adults with Down syndrome.

DDS

has been the Supervising Dentist at Shapiro Center, a 500-bed residential facility for adults with IDD operated by the State of Illinois in Kankakee for over 30 years.  He is a graduate of NYU School of Dentistry.  He is a senior fellow of National Academies of Practice where he serves as Chair of the Dental Academy and is a Diplomate and immediate past president of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry.  He has been a proud member of SAID for 30 years and hasn’t missed a meeting yet.

John Blair

MD, FACC

is an interventional cardiologist at University of Chicago Medicine. His clinical interests include coronary physiology, complex coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, and valvular heart disease. He offers a robust line of clinical services such as coronary physiology testing, advanced hemodynamics, percutaneous mitral valve repair, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, and recanalization of chronic total occlusions. He has extensive research experience in the areas of heart failure, hemodynamics, and coronary physiology, resulting in multiple peer-reviewed papers, review articles, and book chapters. He has participated as the local PI in several randomized clinical trials in coronary microvascular dysfunction, obstructive coronary artery disease, heart failure with preserved ejection fraction, and device-based therapies for congestive heart failure.

Stephen Beetstra

DDS

received his dental degree from Baylor College of Dentistry in 1990. He then served as a Commissioned Officer in the United States Public Health Service until 1999. While in service, he created needs based programs for pediatric, Native American, migrant, and medically complex patients in Oregon, Florida, and North Carolina. For his efforts, Dr. Beetstra received an Outstanding Service Medal, the highest award granted by the Service and was recognized by the National Health Service Corps as a Healthcare Hero.

Kimberly Espinoza

DDS, MPH

is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Washington and Director of the UW Dental Education in the Care of Persons with Disabilities Program. She is past President of Special Care Advocates in Dentistry and currently serves as President-Elect of the American Board of Special Care Dentistry.

DMD, MPH

is an associate professor and director of public health dentistry & teledentistry at A.T. Still University, Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health. He spent one year at the Swedish Medical Center General Practice Residency and completed a dental public health residency at UT Health San Antonio. Dr. Howell served for several years on the board of Special Care Dentistry Association including as it’s treasurer for 3 years. He teaches predoctoral and dental therapy students on working with patients with special needs.

Temple Grandin

is a Professor of Animal Science at Colorado State University. Facilities she has designed for handling livestock are used by many companies around the world. She has also been instrumental in implementing animal welfare auditing programs that are used by McDonalds, Wendy’s, Whole Foods, and other corporations. Temple has appeared on numerous TV shows such as 20/20 and Prime Time. Her books include: Thinking in Pictures, Livestock Handling and Transport
and The Autistic Brain. Her books Animals in Translation and Visual Thinking have been on the New York Times Bestseller List. Temple was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame in September 2017 and in 2022 was named a Colorado State University Distinguished Professor.
