Course Description: This session will provide an in-depth overview of Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), including eligibility, enrollment processes, and recent policy changes. Participants will explore the shift in federal healthcare priorities over the past 25 years, the growing importance of integrated healthcare for improving patient outcomes, and key recommendations from the 2023 National Council on Disability report. The session will also review emerging legislative efforts that impact Medicaid programs, providers, patients, and caregivers, offering attendees the knowledge to better navigate and advocate within today’s evolving healthcare landscape. Course Objectives: 1. Describe major shifts in federal healthcare priorities over the past 25 years and their impact on care delivery. 2. Discuss the importance of integrated healthcare for patients, providers, and population health. 3. Summarize key findings and recommendations from the 2023 National Council on Disability report and identify emerging legislative efforts affecting Medicaid programs, providers, patients, and caregivers.
