After serving as Dental Director at Coastal Center with the S.C. Department of Disabilities and Special Needs for over 22 years and as a member and past President of SAID, I started and directed a free dental clinic for the Sisters of Charity in Charleston, SC (Johns Island). Our Program was affiliated with the MUSC College of Dental Medicine and Trident Technical College. Between Volunteer Dentists, MUSC students and residents, and Trident Tech hygienists, we yearly had well over a 150 providers as part of our team. During my time as Director, we provided over 16 million dollars worth of dental care in over 60,000 patient visits to the uninsured and working poor of the barrier islands (and several special needs patients). I also managed to squeeze in a 35 year military career, active and reserve, where I was mobilized to active duty on three occasions. I retired in 2020 to spend more time traveling to see my five grand daughters. I plan to do some part time consulting and teaching and have rejoined SAID to catch uo with all those that I worked with in the past and have tremendous respect for.
