A review of the diagnostic process for common oral lesions, and therapies for these lesions.

Juan F. Yepes, DDS, MD, MPH (Dr Yepes is a pediactric dental resident at UK College of Dentistry, where he was an Associate Professor of Oral Medicine and Radiology until his residency began. He is Board Certified by the Academy of Oral Medecine, and by the American Board of Dental Public Health.)

8:15-10:15 Research among Intellectually and/or Developmentlly Disabled Persons: This presentation will review scientific research findings published by the author, as well as related studies. Practical suggestions will be provided for dental practitioners who care for people with special needs.
Catherine Binkley, DDS, MSPH, PhD (Dr. Binkley is an Associate Professor at the University of Louisville and conducts research in oral health disparities among disadvantaged and vulnerable populations,)

10:30-11:30 Pearls and Problems - Practical tips and advice to facilitate the delivery of dental care for the special needs patient, solutions or issues on any topic dealing with Special Needs Patients are also enchouraged.

Again this year we will present the "pearls" you have gathered over your experiences. In a 3-8 minute presentation please share these "pearls" of wisdom and insight. It can be verbal, written, or audio-visual. The "pearl" can be from any aspect of your program - administration, record keeping, clinical technique, oral hygiene for patients or anything you think will be of interest to the group.(Participants can e-mail their Pearls prior to the meeting to Bobby Turner at rfturner@dhr.state.ga.us)
